In Remembrance of Charly Lamm

Karl “Charly” Lamm, a dear friend and long-time team leader at Schnitzer/BMW, passed away unexpectedly just two days after our return from Myanmar in January 2019 — to our deep shock and sadness.

In his memory, his family, friends, and racing colleagues came together to fund a cochlear implant for a two-year-old girl Lucy born deaf.

We had met her and her mother during our last mission and had to deliver heartbreaking news: without financial support, the $12,000 implant she needed would remain out of reach, leaving her unable to hear or speak.

Thanks to this incredible act of generosity, that future has changed. In April 2019, our Burmese colleague, Dr. Win successfully performed the surgery. The implant has given this young girl the chance to hear, learn to speak, and live a full life — no longer on the margins of society.

Charly’s spirit of kindness and teamwork continues to resonate — not only on the racetrack, but in the sound of a child hearing the world for the very first time.
